The Bard's Tale II: The Destiny Knight

Interplay's 1986 sequel, which took the party out of Skara Brae and into a whole realm of towns, wilderness and deadly timed puzzles.

The Destiny Wand, which protected the realm, has been broken into pieces and hidden by the archmage Lagoth Zanta. Gather your party, find every piece, and become the Destiny Knight.

The Bard's Tale Trilogy is a 2018 remaster of the first three games, not the original 1986 release.

About the game

Instead of one town there are six, joined by open wilderness, and you can bring in characters from the first game.

Its "death snares" are puzzle rooms with a time limit, where a wrong answer can wipe out the whole party. Players still talk about them.

History

Designed by Michael Cranford at Interplay and published by Electronic Arts in 1986, a year after the first game. The Bard's Tale III followed in 1988.

In 2018 inXile Entertainment and Krome Studios included it in The Bard's Tale Trilogy remaster.
