Bio Menace

Jim Norwood's 1993 run-and-gun platformer for Apogee, made almost entirely by one person on the Commander Keen engine.

Metro City has been overrun by mutant creatures. CIA agent Snake Logan crashes into the city and has to fight his way through, rescue hostages and find the mad scientist behind it all.

Released as freeware, all three episodes, by Apogee / 3D Realms in December 2005.

About the game

Snake shoots, throws grenades and collects power-ups across three episodes of colourful, scrolling levels.

It uses the same engine as Commander Keen: Goodbye, Galaxy!, with 16-colour EGA graphics.

History

Jim Norwood spent about two years building it nearly alone, doing the code, art, sound and levels. Apogee published it in 1993.

3D Realms released the full game as freeware on 23 December 2005.
