Hitman: Codename 47

IO Interactive's 2000 debut, which introduced Agent 47 and the idea of the disguise-based assassination sandbox.

A bald man with a barcode on his neck escapes from a secret facility. Hired by a shadowy agency, Agent 47 takes contracts around the world, and slowly learns the truth about where he came from.

Sold on GOG. Made for adults: it is violent.

About the game

You can change into the clothes of guards, cooks or waiters to slip past security, and plan each hit your own way.

It is famously hard, but its ideas grew into one of the best-loved stealth series.

History

Developed by IO Interactive in Denmark and published by Eidos Interactive in 2000.

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin followed in 2002, and the series continues today.
