About the game

Monsters do not scale with your level, so wandering into the wrong place early gets you killed. Earning your strength feels real.

People in the camps have daily routines and opinions about you, and joining one faction closes doors with the others.

History

Developed by Piranha Bytes and published by Shoebox and JoWooD in 2001. It was a huge hit in Germany and Eastern Europe.

Gothic II followed in 2002, and a remake was announced by THQ Nordic.
