The Temple of Elemental Evil

Troika Games' 2003 adaptation of a classic Dungeons & Dragons module, with some of the best turn-based combat ever put in a computer RPG.

Years ago, an evil temple near the village of Hommlet was destroyed. Now strange things are stirring again. Lead a party of adventurers into its ruins and stop the elemental evil before it rises.

Sold on GOG.

About the game

It follows the Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 rules closely, with tactical turn-based battles on a grid.

It was buggy at launch, but fan patches like the Circle of Eight mod have fixed and expanded it.

History

Developed by Troika Games and published by Atari in 2003, based on the 1985 tabletop adventure by Gary Gygax and Frank Mentzer.

Troika followed it with Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines in 2004.
