Boulder Dash

Peter Liepa and Chris Gray's 1984 classic of digging, dodging and diamond grabbing, still one of the best-designed puzzle games ever made.

Guide Rockford through underground caves, collecting enough diamonds to open the exit before time runs out, without getting flattened by falling boulders.

Boulder Dash 40th Anniversary includes remastered versions of the classic caves. It is not the original 1984 release.

About the game

Every boulder and diamond follows simple physics: dig away the dirt beneath one and it falls. Learning how they tumble and roll is the key to every cave.

Later caves add fireflies, butterflies and spreading amoeba, which you can turn against each other to make even more diamonds.

History

Created by Peter Liepa with Chris Gray and published by First Star Software in 1984 for Atari 8-bit computers, then ported to the Commodore 64 and many others.

The series is still going 40 years later. Boulder Dash 40th Anniversary brings remastered classic caves to modern systems.
