Doomdark's Revenge

Mike Singleton's 1985 sequel to The Lords of Midnight: a bigger, wilder land, and a rescue mission instead of a war.

Doomdark's daughter Shareth the Heartstealer has captured Morkin and carried him north to the Icemark. Luxor sets out with Rorthron and Tarithel to bring him home, through a land full of lords who may help or betray them.

An updated version of the original, offered free on GOG.

About the game

It keeps the first game's panoramic 'landscaping' views, but the Icemark is far bigger, with caves and tunnels to explore as well.

The lords of the Icemark have their own loyalties and grudges. Winning them over, or turning them against each other, is the heart of the game.

History

Published by Beyond Software for the ZX Spectrum in 1985, with versions for the Amstrad CPC and Commodore 64.

Like The Lords of Midnight, it was later updated for modern computers, and GOG began offering both games free in 2020.
