Konami's 1986 gothic action game where a vampire hunter with a whip climbs Dracula's castle.

Every hundred years, Dracula rises again. Simon Belmont takes up the family whip and fights his way through Dracula's castle, past bats, mummies, Medusa heads and Death himself.

Sold on Steam as part of the Castlevania Anniversary Collection.

About the game

Careful jumps and well-timed whip attacks matter, and sub-weapons like the axe, holy water and cross help.

Its music and monster-movie atmosphere made it a classic.

History

Developed and published by Konami in 1986 for the Famicom Disk System, then on the NES in 1987.

On PC it is part of the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, along with seven more classic Castlevania games.
