Caverns of Kroz

The 1988 second chapter of Scott Miller's Kroz series: deeper caves, nastier monsters and more secrets, all drawn in text characters.

The search for the Magical Amulet of Kroz continues underground. Fight and puzzle your way through a new set of caverns, collecting gems, whips and keys as the creatures close in.

The whole Kroz series was released as freeware by Apogee / 3D Realms in 2009.

About the game

It plays like Kingdom of Kroz: every creature, wall and treasure is a coloured symbol, and monsters move towards you each time you move.

New level designs add more traps, puzzles and hidden passages for players who like to experiment.

History

Written by Scott Miller and released by Apogee in 1988. In the shareware model, players bought it after trying the free first episode.

Apogee released all seven Kroz games as freeware in March 2009, along with their source code.
