Quest for Glory I: So You Want to Be a Hero

Lori and Corey Cole's 1989 mix of adventure game and role-playing game, full of puns, heart and a hero you build yourself.

The valley of Spielburg is troubled by brigands, monsters and a curse on the Baron's family. Arrive as a fresh graduate of a mail-order hero school, and prove you are the hero they need.

Sold on GOG as Quest for Glory 1-5, including both the original and the 1992 remake of the first game.

About the game

Choose to be a fighter, a magic user or a thief. Each has different skills, and many puzzles have a different solution for each class.

Your skills improve the more you use them, and you can carry your hero over into the sequels.

History

Designed by Lori Ann Cole and Corey Cole and released by Sierra On-Line in 1989, first under the name Hero's Quest.

The series ran for five games, and a remake of the first with new graphics and point-and-click controls came out in 1992.
