Ultima VI: The False Prophet

Origin's 1990 Ultima, the first designed for PCs, with one seamless world and a story where the enemy is not what it seems.

Summoned back to Britannia, the Avatar lands in the middle of an attack by gargoyles, who call him the False Prophet. As the war spreads, he must learn why they hate him, and whether they are right.

Sold on GOG as Ultima 4+5+6.

About the game

The whole world is one big map, with towns and dungeons built right into it, and almost every object can be picked up or used.

It closes the trilogy that began with Ultima IV by asking players to understand their enemy instead of simply defeating it.

History

Designed by Richard Garriott and released by Origin Systems in 1990, first for DOS, then for the Amiga, Atari ST and more.

Its engine and ideas shaped later Origin games, and fans have rebuilt it in modern engines.
