Sam & Max Hit the Road

LucasArts' 1993 road-trip comedy starring Steve Purcell's Freelance Police: a dog in a suit and a hyperkinetic rabbity thing.

A bigfoot has escaped from a carnival freak show, taking the giraffe-necked girl with him. Sam and Max hit the road across America's strangest tourist traps to bring them back.

Sold on GOG.

About the game

Instead of verbs on screen, you cycle through icons for walk, look, talk, pick up and use, and one for Max himself.

The jokes are absurd and fast, and the soundtrack is cool jazz.

History

Designed by Sean Clark, Michael Stemmle, Steve Purcell and Collette Michaud, and released by LucasArts in 1993.

Telltale Games revived the series with new episodes from 2006.
