Day of the Tentacle

Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman's 1993 cartoon time-travel comedy, the sequel to Maniac Mansion and one of the funniest games ever made.

Purple Tentacle drinks toxic sludge, grows arms and decides to take over the world. Bernard and his friends Hoagie and Laverne use Dr. Fred's time machine to stop him, and end up stuck in three different times.

Day of the Tentacle Remastered lets you switch to the original 1993 version, and includes Maniac Mansion.

About the game

You switch between three heroes: one in the present, one with the Founding Fathers 200 years ago, and one 200 years in the future. Items sent through time solve puzzles in other eras.

The animation looks like a Saturday-morning cartoon, and the jokes still land.

History

Designed by Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman and released by LucasArts in 1993, with full voice acting on CD-ROM.

Double Fine released a remastered version in 2016.
