The Curse of Monkey Island

LucasArts' 1997 return to Monkey Island, with beautiful cartoon art, full voice acting and plenty of pirate silliness.

Guybrush Threepwood finally proposes to Elaine with a ring he found in LeChuck's treasure, but it is cursed and turns her into a gold statue. Now he has to break the curse while LeChuck rises again.

Sold on GOG.

About the game

The hand-drawn, high-resolution cartoon style was a big leap from the earlier games, and Murray the demonic talking skull steals every scene.

Insult sword fighting returns, now in rhyme, as part of ship-to-ship battles.

History

Directed by Jonathan Ackley and Larry Ahern and released by LucasArts in 1997.

It came back to digital stores, including GOG and Steam, in 2018.
