Space Quest: The Sarien Encounter

The Two Guys from Andromeda's 1986 sci-fi comedy, starring the least heroic hero in the galaxy: a janitor named Roger Wilco.

The Sariens have attacked the starship Arcada and stolen the Star Generator. The only survivor is Roger Wilco, who was asleep in a broom closet. Now it's up to him to get it back.

Sold on GOG together with Space Quest II and III.

About the game

It plays like Sierra's King's Quest games, typing commands and walking Roger around animated screens, but with jokes about science fiction films everywhere you look.

Death is common and often very funny, with the narrator mocking your mistakes. Save early, save often.

History

Created by Mark Crowe and Scott Murphy, known as the Two Guys from Andromeda, and released by Sierra On-Line in 1986.

It started a six-game series that ran until 1995, and a remake with new graphics and point-and-click controls followed in 1991.
