Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards

Al Lowe's 1987 grown-up comedy adventure, starring gaming's most lovable loser in a polyester suit.

Larry Laffer is pushing 40, lives with his mother, and has never had a girlfriend. One night in the city of Lost Wages, he sets out to change that, and almost everything goes wrong.

Sold on GOG. Made for adults: it has mature humour.

About the game

It plays like Sierra's other adventures, typing commands and walking Larry around, but the jokes, double meanings and narrator's comments are the real stars.

Famously, it opened with a quiz of trivia questions that teenagers were not supposed to know the answers to, as an age check.

History

Written by Al Lowe and released by Sierra On-Line in 1987. It was a slow seller at first, then became one of the best-known computer games of its time.

The series ran through the 1990s, and a remake with new graphics and point-and-click controls came out in 1991.
