About the game
There are seven kids to choose from, each with their own skills, and you switch between your three at any time. Different teams find different solutions and different endings.
Instead of typing, you click on verbs and objects on screen. That simple idea, and the SCUMM engine built for it, shaped LucasArts adventures for the next decade.
History
Designed by Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick at Lucasfilm Games and released in 1987 for the Commodore 64 and Apple II, then for DOS, Amiga, NES and more.
Its sequel, Day of the Tentacle, followed in 1993. The 2016 remaster of that sequel includes the original Maniac Mansion as a playable extra.
