About the game

You gather gold and lumber, build a town and train an army, then send it against the enemy in real time.

Its two-player mode over a modem or network made it a hit, years before online gaming was common.

History

Developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment in 1994 for DOS and later the Macintosh.

Warcraft II followed in 1995, Warcraft III in 2002, and World of Warcraft in 2004.
