The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall

Bethesda's 1996 open-world epic, with a game world roughly the size of Great Britain.

The Emperor sends you to the Iliac Bay to put the ghost of King Lysandus to rest and recover a lost letter. Soon you are caught in the politics of rival kingdoms, all racing to control an ancient golem called the Numidium.

Bethesda offers it free on Steam.

The main story has several endings, depending on which faction you help.

Developed and published by Bethesda Softworks in 1996 for DOS.

Bethesda released it free in 2009 for the series' 15th anniversary, and later free on Steam. Fans have rebuilt it in a modern engine called Daggerfall Unity.
